Advocacy matters
Immigrants coming to America need interpretation, but a different kind than you may think. Obviously there is a language barrier, but there is a certain language to our services and cultural dynamics that is just as foreign to our new friends. This need can be filled by individuals and small groups who are willing to become advocates for people who need assistance in learning our American systems.
Be an advocate
In the Triad area, there are three main resettlement agencies: Church World Service, North Carolina African Coalition, and World Relief. What our non profit does is use our networking base within the refugee community to pair a family or small group with a family who needs assistance in getting on their feet in North Carolina. This could be through a Church or through one of these agencies.
Our work with the 2021 efforts to serve and resettle the over 250 Afghani families relocated to Greensboro is ongoing. We are raising funds to distribute to families after their 90 days of service has concluded from their refugee agencies.
